True to Dauphin's Ukrainian roots, 500 perogies were eaten in a perogy-eating contest. The winner chomped down 50 perogies in under four minutes.

As for next year, it will be a country-filled Canada Day for festival-goers, with Countryfest 2016 running June 30 to July 3.

2016 is a leap year so you will have to wait one extra day before returning to Canada's longest-running country music festival.
