A retired Nova Scotia woman has won a popular fundraising lottery that drew thousands of people to a small Cape Breton town.
Donelda MacAskill claimed the 1.7-million dollar grand prize in the Chase the Ace game when she picked the ace of spades from among three cards left in the deck.
The series of weekly draws started in Inverness 48 weeks ago, and grew in popularity across the region as the jackpot steadily rose.
