Driving slowly through highway work zones is the main message of the Manitoba Safe Roads Campaign.
This is the eleventh year of the campaign that is put on by a number of organizations including the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association.
MHCA president Chris Lorence is the chairman of the campaign, and says motorists should pay attention to any signs indicating when they are approaching a work zone.
"Be alert for those signs, oblige the messages of those signs telling you to slow down or go slowly, please do that. Lets not be in a hurry, lets understand that going to and from work or a soccer game or a Blue Bomber game or what ever the case might be, it might be busy so lets be patient. Lets plan to spend a little bit more time in our vehicles but do it safely."
Speeding fines in Manitoba are doubled if a driver gets caught speeding in a construction zone.
