Sign Vandalism In Riding Mountain
 
RCMP are investigating after two digital speed signs were
damaged in Manitoba.

It appears the signs were pulled out of the ground in Riding
Mountain and dragged by a truck with large off-road tires.

The two solar-powered signs are owned by the province and damage
is estimated at 20-thousand dollars.

Police say they're looking for a dark-coloured Dodge diesel truck
that was seen in the area.
 
Gimli Debating Allowing Dogs On Beaches
 
A debate on where to draw the line on dogs at a Manitoba beach is
splitting a community.

Gimli Mayor Randy Woroniuk and two town councillors recently
voted to support the first reading of a bylaw to extend the current
beach ban on dogs to include the nearby boardwalk and grass.

Opponent Jason Beck has criticized the move, calling Gimli, a
``very laid back, dog-friendly tourist town.''

Woroniuk says he's prepared to table an amendment that would
limit the boardwalk ban to the high tourist season.
 
Charleston Church Holds First Service Since Shootings
 
The Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church is holding Sunday
services today as similar sermons of recovery and healing are
expected to reverberate throughout the US.

Today marks the first worship service at since Dylann Roof
allegedly opened fire on a Bible study group after saying that he
targeted them because they were black.

Nine people were killed including the pastor.

Roof was arrested at a traffic stop.
 
New York Prison Escapees In Pennsylvania?
 
Authorities in New York State think two killers who escaped from
a prison near the Canadian border are now far from there,
and the search has gone farther south.

They are looking near the Pennsylvania border about 500
km from the prison where they escaped two weeks ago.

New York State Police say officers are investigating possible
sightings.
 
Tainted Liquor Crisis Continuing In India
 
Indian police say eight more people have died in Mumbai from
drinking tainted liquor.

That raises the death toll to 92 in the worst such incident in
more than a decade.

Police say eight men died overnight after drinking the cheap
liquor in Malvani, in Mumbai's Malad suburb, on Wednesday.

Around two dozen others were being treated in hospitals,
including 19 in critical condition.
 
Surfing Record Broken In California
 
They were surfin' USA in a big way.

Sixty-six surfers set a world record in Huntington Beach,
California for most people riding a board at once.

They hung loose on a custom built, 12 m board yesterday.

According to reports, the 66 surfers rode a wave for
12 seconds.

They broke the previous record set in Queensland, Australia about
a decade ago when 47 surfers rode a wave for 10 seconds.
