A farmer in Manitoba is urging fellow farmers across the province to be on the lookout after his farm near Rivers Manitoba, south of Minnedosa, had 40 thousand dollars worth of Canola stolen from it.
Les Wedderburn and his brother run the farm and while checking their bins noticed someone stole between 1,500 and 1,600 bushels of Canola from one of the bins.
The Rivers Police Service is investigating the theft and Wedderburn said he’s taking precautions to prevent this from happening again by installing cameras that he can watch the footage from his phone.
On top of the cameras, he’s also using a product called Crop Guard which is a confetti-like product that’s put in the grain with a serial number specifically registered to the farmer.
