A Swan River man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the January 2024 stabbing death of a man on Main Street has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
According to a report by the CBC, Dean Bell, who is now 31 years old, fatally stabbed 33 year old Calvin Chartrand when they ran into each other near the EMS building in Swan River.
Court was told that Bell stabbed Chartrand twice during the scuffle - once in the face and once in the buttocks,.
Chartrand died of internal bleeding from the second stab wound.
Bell's co-accused, 41-year-old Tyrone Guiboche, was recently arrested on an outstanding warrant for the manslaughter charge, as well as a charge for failing to attend court.
