Manitoba Public Insurance is out with its annual list of the top 5 most interesting fraud cases that they uncovered in 2025.

Spokesperson Tara Seel says they release this list to inform Manitobans of how significant auto insurance fraud is occurring in the province.
"Our Special Investigation Unit at Manitoba Public Insurance uncovered fraud worth around 17 million dollars in 2025.  So that saved $17 million out of the pockets of all Manitobans.  And, the thing is, there was probably more that was not caught."
Seel says Manitobans need to continue contacting MPI or Crimestoppers if they are aware of any cases of auto insurance fraud taking place.
The list includes a bodybuilder, that continued to work out despite receiving Income Replacement benefits and Personal Care Assistance payments following a car accident and a report of a stolen vehicle that was eventually found on a shipping container in Ontario headed for Dubai.
