The Dauphin Friendship Centre's Youth Centre Spring Break Program takes place from Monday March 30th to Thursday April 2nd, with the deadline for signing up on Monday March 23rd.
Natalie Gabriel, Youth Centre Community Mentor, said there are lots of reasons why parents should sign up their kids for the program.
"It's a safe space where kids could come and make new friends in a non-judgemental zone, we offer snack and lunch throughout spring break...I think it's just a good place for kids to come and learn new life skills, as well as connecting with other people," said Gabriel.
Gabriel said she has a fun week planned for kids in the program: starting strong with a pizza cooking class on Monday and growing a herb garden on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday are more focused on community fun, with going to the Cinema to see a movie on Thursday, and bowling on Friday. The program is for kids from 6 to 12.
Each day only has 25 spots available for kids. Thursday and Friday's spots are already filled, and there's only a couple spots left for Monday and Tuesday. Gabriel said though the spots are mostly full, there is potential for some flexibility.
"I don't think it would be a hard cap, I think we would be able to adjust the number to maybe 30," said Gabriel.
One other reason Gabriel said parents should sign up their kids: no costs for parents.
"It is free. Our spring break program is free for all kids who are registered," said Gabriel.
