Work will begin in the coming weeks towards the construction of an outdoor riding arena near Ste Rose.
Ashley vandepoele with Saddle Up Ste Rose says they are working with the Municipality of Ste Rose and the Parkland Horsemen Association on this project.
"We are collaborating to further develop the area that is currently used by Parkland Horsemen's Association for their annual chuckwagon and chariot races. The goal for this initiative is to create a community riding arena, which will be a multi-use space for equestrian and other agriculturally based activities."
Phase one of the project, which includes securing the ground and putting up the panels for the arena, will cost around $90,000.
So far, they have raised close to $70,000, and Vandepoele says they have another fundraiser planned for this Saturday, in conjunction with Chicken Chef in Ste Rose.
" A percentage of the proceeds all day on Saturday will be donated to our project. We are very grateful to them for making that possible. While we are there, we are going to be set up with a table, and will be selling tickets for a raffle. It is a tailgate package as we were donated some Winnipeg Blue Bombers ticket vouchers."
The promotion is for all dine in and take out orders at Chicken Chef in Ste Rose on Saturday.
