Warmer weather continues to be needed for field conditions to improve in the Northwest region.
According to the latest crop report from Manitoba Agriculture, s ome seeding progress was made throughout most of the region last week, with the exception being The Pas, where seeding has not yet begun due to wet conditions.
Seeding and fertilizing is more advanced in the Dauphin/Ste. Rose and Russell areas, while the rest of the region follows behind as conditions allow.
Spring wheat and field pea seeding are both about 5 per cent complete, while some barley and soybean fields have also been seeded in the Northwest.
Across the entire province, 37 per cent of this year's crop is now in the ground, well up from the 13 per cent last week.
But we are still lagging behind last year's pace of 57 per cent completed at this time of year,  while the five year average is 43 per cent.
