In 2024, the Town of Swan River conducted a youth survey for kids in grades seven to 12.
The results of the survey showed high stress and anxiety among the students. As a result, Donna Potts with Swan Valley Communities That Care has made it her personal mission to get youth out and about in the community, socializing more and doing more activities.
So Swan Valley families, are you ready for some fun in the park? There's a family fun day set for Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 at Legion Park in Swan River.
"It's going to be fantastic, the kids are excited already," said Potts. "I just came from an ID clinic, so I talked to quite a few kids. When they realized what was happening this weekend, they were so happy."
There will be baseball, basketball, bocce ball, disc golf, and soccer. Add in kites and some beautiful weather, and you're in for the perfect Saturday afternoon.
"There's going to be rock painting for the kids," added Potts. "A bunch of sports things are going on, whatever they feel like playing. There will be bubbles. We're also going to provide ice cream and freezies."
There will also be a foam cannon. It's a machine that generates thick, fluffy, and safe foam. It's recommended that you bring a towel and a dry change of clothes, or two.
There is no cost to attend the fun. Just bring yourself, a change of clothes, and a smile. The rest, as they say, will be history.
"Lots of kids can't afford stuff like this, but they need something fun and constructive to do," ended Potts. "Burn off some energy, exercise, and enjoy some sunshine. We want to provide that, where we can."
Swan Valley Communities That Care is building the futures of children and youth, and on Saturday, you can be a part of the magic at Legion Park from 1:00 to 4:00.
