Manitoba Parks has provided an update for those stuck at certain campsites in Duck Mountain Provincial Park.
The update reads as follows:
A temporary window to leave Duck Mountain Provincial Park will be available Saturday, July 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All campers and cottagers at Childs, Wellman and Blue lakes must travel south to Grandview via PR 366. Staging will begin at 10 a.m. at the Blue Lake junction of PR 366 and PR 367. All vehicles will be escorted out. Follow all directions from officers and emergency personnel.
No trailers are permitted. All campers, boats and other trailers must be left at campsites. You will be contacted when it is safe to return and retrieve them.
Those who choose not to leave must be prepared to continue sheltering in place and have sufficient medication, food and supplies for at least one week. The temporary access route will close at 1 p.m. to allow construction work to continue and may remain closed for at least a week.
Singush Lake cottagers must continue to shelter in place. Road washouts on both sides of the lake along PR 367 prevent safe travel.
Directions from Grandview back north to Swan River:
Travel west on PTH 5 through Roblin into Saskatchewan to Wroxton. Turn north on Highway 8 through Kamsack to Pelly. At Pelly, turn east on Highway 49 into Manitoba to PTH 83. Turn north on PTH 83 to Swan River.
Directions from Grandview to travel east and south:
From Grandview, travel east on PTH 5 to Dauphin. Roads are open south and east of Dauphin to Brandon and Winnipeg.
