The community was set to come together on July 30 for the Parkland Chamber Street Fair & Dance.
That never happened after the devastating flood. At the time, the Chamber said it was exploring opportunities to host a modified event in the fall.
Today, the Chamber has your back. They've announced they'll host a fall edition of the street fair and dance on Friday, September 18. It will still take place at CN Park and along 1st Avenue Northwest.
Christian Laughland, a board of directors member with the Chamber, says the street fair is one of the happiest days in Dauphin.
"I've been saying that for years. It just seems everyone is in a great mood. I'm sure that'll be the case come Friday, September 18," said Laughland. "It's obviously a bit later in the year which is not what the Chamber board wanted. One of the positives is we, hopefully, won't have to deal with extreme heat. Hopefully, it's the same type of atmosphere that you've come used to."
It's a full day of vendors, food, family fun, entertainment, and an opportunity for the community to celebrate together.
If you've been to the street fair and dance in the past, you know what it's all about. If you haven't, mark your calendars and set your plans, because you're in for a treat.
Whether you're five years old or 95, it's an event for everyone.
"Really meet up with some friends and be a part of something that feels almost like a family reunion," ended Laughland. "I'm really glad that we're going to be able to have it. Especially considering what has gone on in July since the flood. It's been a really tough summer for people. I feel by that time, people will really want to let loose. The street fair and dance will give people that chance."
Applications for vendors have reopened. Interested vendors can apply here.
Live music starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until midnight. There will be a Kids Zone, mini-train rides, beer gardens, and so much more.
