Dauphin Co-op has been involved in just about every community project in the City, and they've once again given back. As part of Co-op Week, they've made a pair of sizeable donations to two community groups.
First off, they donated $30,000 to Dauphin Recreation Services, for the restoration of their outdoor ice rink. Lindsey Kyle, Assistant General Manager of Dauphin Rec Services, said the funding will be used to make the outdoor rink a lot better for all users.
"We are going to be upgrading the lighting, so it will become a much safer, lit space, we are going to be working with the students from the DRCSS to have a warm-up shelter built, that'll be heated, insulated, lit up as well," said Kyle.
Large donations to community groups like this aren't anything new for Co-op. Lorne Eiffert, Dauphin Co-op CEO, said he's proud to be able to contribute to the community in such a meaningful way.
"These investments in our community and organizations, like Dauphin Rec Services, will definitely help grow the community, and build for families," said Eiffert.
A short hop away, Dauphin Co-op also provided a $1,000 donation to the Dauphin Rail Museum, earmarked for their planned Turntable Exhibit. Jason Gilmore, Dauphin Rail Museum President, said though the donation isn't very big, it's meaning certainly is.
"Especially with Co-op, and this just once again demonstrates the commitment they do to support projects that enrich the community, so very appreciative," said Gilmore.
Sierra Hadway, Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator with Dauphin Co-op, has only been with the company for a year and a half. She said in that short time, she's gotten to see a lot of the ways Co-op positively impacts the community.
"It's great to see all the community impact we have, and how we can help organizations big and small. Not too many places still do that, so it's great to know that we can have an impact like that," said Hadway.
During Co-op Week, Dauphin Co-op is also celebrating the completion of a project they donated $85,000 to in 2023 - Phase 2 of the Trail Development Project in Ste. Rose.
