On Tuesday the Swan River R-C-M-P responded to a house on the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation after reports of multiple people being stabbed and one person being assaulted.
When officers arrived they found three victims with stab wounds and one that had been assaulted. The victims aged 54, 30, 18 and 17 were all from the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation.
The 30-year-old was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and later transferred to Winnipeg. The 18-year-old and 17-year-old were treated and released from the hospital while the 54-year-old, who had been assaulted, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
18-year-old Terrance Kematch of Sapotaweyak Cree Nation was arrested nearby and remanded into custody on charges including Breaking and Entering, Assault with a Weapon, Mischief Under $5000 and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. while a 17-year-old female from Norway House was also arrested in connection but released while awaiting a court appearance in Swan River at a later date.
