Organizers are looking forward to a little bit of a breather after a great weekend at the grounds.
The Ashern Rodeo has come and gone for another year. It started with the always-popular street dance on Friday night along Main Street. Friday ended with a fabulous fireworks show. Saturday started with a delicious pancake breakfast at the Centennial Hall, which paved the way for a market, an 11:00 a.m. parade, and the rodeo took centre stage at 4:00 p.m.
There was also a highly attended social on Saturday night.
Rachel Postlethwaite is the president of the Ashern Rodeo.
"It was an awesome weekend. The weather was fantastic, it was great beer-drinking weather," she said. "A ton of people came out. We had about 550 to 600 come out on Saturday. It was impressive. We are very happy with how the weekend went."
Postlethwaite says this year's rodeo will go down as one of the best-attended ones yet. Sunday morning started with Cowboy Church before the rodeo wrapped up the weekend at 4:00 p.m. Rachel says the adults had a blast doing their thing, and the kids were all smiles.
"We had a ton of kids' entertainment. Bouncy castles, pony rides. It's always nice to see families come down, and it means the world to see the kids smiling and running around," ended Postlethwaite. "There was some great food. Hot dogs and hamburgers, taco in the bag, our mini donuts are always a classic for us."
There was something for everyone, and that's why the Ashern Rodeo is circled on so many people's calendars every year.
The organizing committee will meet in the next couple of weeks. Then, preparation for the 2026 Ashern Rodeo will begin.
