A 22-year-old man from Minitonas was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries after he collided head-on with a semi-trailer carrying two loads of bricks.
On September 27 at 6:53 a.m., Dauphin RCMP responded to the crash on Highway 5, one kilometre east of the intersection with Highway 10. The 22-year-old, driving a Dodge Ram, fell asleep and crossed the centre line. He was extracted from the vehicle and was able to walk away from the scene.
The 47-year-old man behind the wheel of the semi-trailer suffered minor injuries. Neither alcohol nor drugs appears to be a factor.
