Harvest for the most part is complete in the Northwest region, with just a few Soybean and Canola crops still needing to be pulled off the field as of the beginning of this week.
According to their year-end crop report, Manitoba Agriculture says farmers in the area faced numerous challenges during the year, from very dry field conditions in the late spring and early summer to persistent rains that delayed harvest at times in the late summer and early fall.
Yields this year ranged from 25 to 45 bushels/acre for soybeans, to 25-50 bushels/acre for Canola
Spring wheat yields were very good, with average yields ranging from 70-80 bushels/acre.
Approximately 80% of that crop graded at 1CW, with the remainder grading 2CW.
Estimated average yields for barley were 80-85 bu/acre and 100-110 bu/acre for oats.
And field peas ranged from 30-55 bu/acre, with 98% of that crop graded at 2CAN, with the remainder at 3CAN.
