11 years ago, Lindsay Lepla saw her niece and nephew walking around town on Halloween night in Ste. Rose asking for non-perishable food items to donate to the local food bank.
She thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world to do. 11 years later, the giving back in Ste. Rose is stronger than ever.
On Friday, students in Ste. Rose will be canvassing the town, starting at 1:00 p.m., picking up donations that'll then be donated to the food bank.
If you have any non-perishable food items, leave them on your doorstep.
"I think it's a beautiful way to have children learn to give back to their community, rather than taking," said Lepla.
This will be the 11th year that Lindsay has spearheaded 'Scare Away Hunger'. She says the event continues to gain steam and is looking forward to Friday.
"It's very successful. The longer it's been running, the more we get," ended Lepla. "Usually, I'm delivering two truck-beds full of food to the food bank every year."
Lepla says the food bank in Ste. Rose is highly utilized, and there are always families waiting for food.
So on Friday, you can help make a difference and feed a family by leaving non-perishable food items on your doorstep.
