The Kin Club of Dauphin is set to host its Wine and Mickey draw this Friday.
The doors open at 7:00 p.m. at the Watson Art Centre. Tickets are just $20, which includes live music by Johnny Pacey and charcuterie snacks. There will also be a cash bar, a 50/50 draw, and raffles. It's a yearly fundraiser that the Kin Club of Dauphin has run since 2015.
When you arrive on Friday, take a bottle of wine or a Mickey. All the bottles are pooled into prizes. Organizers use your entry ticket for a draw to win the liquor.
As of Monday morning, only 10 people have purchased tickets. Nicole Gulenchin, president of the Club, says they need at least 50 people to purchase tickets for the event to run. If 50 people don't register, the event will be cancelled.
"If you're an avid wine or liquor drinker, it's a great way to diversify your collection at home. You could win a variety of different liquors that you may not have tried in the past," said Gulenchin. "It's also a great way to raise money for the community. The Kin Club of Dauphin is a not-for-profit organization that raises money for the community's greatest need."
All of the funds raised from the event will be donated to the Countryfest Community Cinema. The cinema, a four-screen state-of-the-art facility, is going through financial hardship right now. They're looking to raise $100,000 through GoFundMe. They've currently raised about $22,000.
Gulenchin says they're thrilled to be able to raise money for the CCC.
"Absolutely. We always love giving back to our community, that's what the Kin Club of Dauphin is all about," ended Gulenchin. "The cinema is a project that so many in our community have worked hard to bring here. We would love to see it stay here."
Tickets must be purchased in advance. You can send them a Facebook message. You can text 572-7533. You can also get them at Fudd's Corner Store, IG Wealth, or Western Bakery.
