The Dauphin Fish and Wildlife Association is gearing up for one of the most exciting nights of the year.
They're hosting their awards night on Saturday, December 13. It'll be held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Auditorium on 304 Whitmore Avenue East. Early-bird head entries are from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m., and all big game entries must be in by 7:30 p.m.
The doors open at 7:00. All heads brought in between 2:00 and 5:30 will be put into an early-bird cash draw, says Tia Crawford.
"We will have a live auction, silent auction, and rifle raffles," said Crawford. "There will also be awards for anglers and hunters."
There will also be food. An adult ticket is $25, 12 to 17 is $15, kids 6 to 11 is $5, and kids 5 and under is free. There will be tickets at the door. You can also call or text 204-648-5971 for tickets.
"Because it's a family event, we've shifted more towards making it a social evening," added Crawford. "It's pretty much a family gathering to celebrate our hunters and anglers success. It's a social event for people to come out, meet some people, and have some fun."
100 per cent of the funds raised support local hunting and fishing activities. If you head down on Saturday, make sure you stay the entire time, for a few reasons. You'll have an incredible time, and you must be in attendance to win prizes.
Crawford ended by saying it's always great to see the success of hunters and anglers in the region.
"Some people bring in moose, bear, elk, and the common one is deer," ended Crawford. "We also have fish trophies going out for those who had big catches throughout the summer. We get people from all the way up in Pine River and Ethelbert coming out just to enjoy the evening with everyone."
