Swan River RCMP have arrested a male, after shots were fired outside a residence. On Dec 9th at approximately 11pm, Swan River RCMP were notified of shots fired outside a residence in Sapotaweyak Cree nation.

Upon attending the residence, Officers were advised by a occupant that a male known to the occupant had tried to forcefully enter the home. When unsuccessful entering, the suspect shot out the surveillance cameras on site plus cut a cord disabling the home's internet.

 The suspect fled. Police began a search of the community and found him hiding in a bedroom at a residence. He was arrested without incident. Ammunition and firearms were seized from the suspect's property and another residence.

Joshua Stevens, 34, from Swan River, was remanded and charged with numerious charges including the following:

Weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender x4

  • Discharge firearm with intent
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose x2
  • Mischief under $5,000, damage to property x2

Swan River RCMP continue to investigate.
