The Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser Walk took place at Dauphin Friendship Centre on Saturday, and raised lots of money for a good cause.
The Centre raised $33,350 for their Food for Thought program, which was 133% of their goal. When she found out, Events Coordinator Jarri Thompson was floored.
"I'm amazed. I am still in shock, I can't believe that we've surpassed our goal by so much," said Thompson.
Despite the cold weather on Saturday, Thompson said walkers showed up in droves and had a good time raising money.
"It was a little chilly. We did have some walkers come back with rosy red cheeks, but they were still happy, they were very supportive of the cause. Just a huge thank you to the community. We know times are a little tough right now, especially when it comes to the price of groceries, so their belief in this program, it just blows our mind, and we're so thankful for everybody," said Thompson.
Though the temperatures on Saturday were well in the negatives, the hearts of participants in the Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser helped keep them warm.
