A cautionary message from the City of Dauphin to parents and caregivers, regarding their waste and recycling bins.
This morning, while working in the day 4 collection area, crews encountered a child inside of one of the bins as collection was taking place.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
But the city does want to remind you that their collection trucks use automated equipment to both lift and empty bins, and that crew on the trucks often can not see what is inside the bins before they are emptied.
Therefore, you are asked to please keep children out of the waste and recycling bins at all times, along with making sure the trucks have plenty of space to do their work.
