Jarri-Ann Thompson, Lori Beyette, Ron Chartrand, Ernie Rizok, and Stacey Penner were recognized as community heroes last year.
This year, you can have your say on who should be recognized as a community hero. As Professional Bull Riding gallops into Dauphin next Saturday at Credit Union Place, Dauphin Rec Services is running a community hero contest.
The contest closes on Sunday. Five winners will be chosen from the entries and be invited, along with their plus one, to sit at the community heroes table. They'll also be given a catered meal and get to enjoy the action from the best seats in the house.

"To us, it's an individual who selflessly acts to improve the lives of others, strengthening their community through dedication, volunteers, and acts of kindness," said Kyle. "We call them quiet giants. They often work without seeking recognition. They also serve as role models through passion and consistent positive impact."

The winners will be announced next Tuesday and are in for quite the night. The winners will be recognized at the event.
Tickets for next week's event are on sale and range from $27.75 to $65.97. The doors open at 6:00 and the show begins at 7:00. Many consider bull riding as the most dangerous eight seconds in sports, and you can be a part of the action.
Lindsey said Dauphin Rec has worked very hard to bring PBR back to Dauphin, and that hard work is paying off as ticket sales are going very well.
The lineup is stacked. The stage is set. PBR is back, and it's set to be a night to remember in the City of Sunshine.
"It's some of the best athletes in North America," ended Kyle. "You get to see them ride bulls and try to stay on for eight seconds. It's great entertainment as well. Great bull riders, fighters, music, and the lights. It's going to be an incredible night."
