A mixed week of weather allowed for some seeding progress and spring field operations to move ahead in the Northwest region.
B ut according to the latest Manitoba Agriculture Crop Report, pockets of the region remain too wet to start, and progress was further delayed by frequent rain.
Spring wheat seeding is now about 30 per cent complete in the region, with the earliest seeded wheat starting to emerge.
Field pea seeding is also underway, with around 40 per cent of that crop now in the ground locally.
Canola seeding is off to a slow start, with only 5 per cent seeded.
And winter wheat and fall rye are in mostly good condition, although some winter kill has been reported recently.
Across the entire province, 55 per cent of this year's crop is now in the ground.
That is up considerably from just 13 per cent seeded two weeks ago, but still lagging behind the 85 per cent pace that was set at this time last year.
