Several dignitaries will be in Dauphin Friday morning for the official renaming of a portion of Highway 10 leading into the city.
Local historian Al Gray says they have been working on this for a few years.
"One of the proposals that we put to the province a few years ago was the naming of the 10 mile stretch of Highway 10, from Northgate and Riding Mountain National Park to the corner of Whitmore and Main."
As of Friday, that stretch of roadway will be known as the Lieutenant Colonel William G. Barker V-C Highway.
The formal ceremony will begin at 10:30 Friday morning at the terminal building of the Dauphin Airport.
