While seeding has for the most part wrapped up in other parts of the province, the same can not be said for the Northwest region.
According to the latest Manitoba Agriculture Crop Report, cooler temperatures, frequent showers, and torrential rain in some parts over the weekend slowed seeding progress in our area.
The rain over the weekend damaged several fields in the Swan River Valley and San Clara areas.
On the positive side, soybean seeding is considered complete in the regoin, while field peas are 95 per cent seeded.
Spring wheat seeding is about 80 per cent complete, with earliest seeded wheat now in the seedling stage.
On the down side, there are reports of several fields still unseeded in the region.
Canola is only 65 per cent seeded.
Province wide, 93 per cent of this year's crop is now seeded.
