This month has been Agriculture Literacy Month across Canada.

Katherine Cherewyk, the Executive Director of Ag in the Classroom Manitoba, says the purpose of the month is to connect students with the people who grow their food
"We had over 130 volunteers who are farmers or ag professionals - people who live this work every day.  They went into classrooms of teachers who registered (for this program).  This year, we had 366 classrooms receiving presentations, which is about 7,500 students.  And around 60 of those presentaations were in french."
Cherewyk says the response has been incredible, adding teachers appreciate having people from their own community come into their classrooms to share stories of their farms.
