Tomorrow, downtown Dauphin will get a bit more colourful. A couple blocks will be closed for the 4th Annual Walk with Pride.
Northwest Métis Council Vice President Frances Chartrand said no matter who you are, you're welcome to show up and support Dauphin's diversity.
"It's an opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together in support of our 2SLGBTQIA community, and to celebrate the diversity that makes Dauphin stronger...last year we had approximately 400 people, and I think that we'll have more, so rain or shine, I think we're going to have a great day," said Chartrand.
The walk starts at noon at Maamawi Park, and will cover a few blocks. A road closure map from the City of Dauphin is pictured below.
Chartrand went over a few of the things that'll be there.
"Live entertainment, community resources, activites for all ages, there will be face painting, bouncy castles, a colour blast, photo booth, slip and slide, so this is a time where all families, friends, and community can get together to have a great day," said Chartrand.
After the day is done, Chartrand hopes people will be able to walk away with a bit more understanding of Dauphin's pride community.
"I think people will be able to get the understanding of who the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is, and about partnership, about building, about freedom, freedom of speech, and understanding...we want everyone to come out, have a great time, celebrate, celebrate who you are and where you come from, and the Red River Métis always have your back," said Chartrand.
The event runs from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Maamawi Park in Dauphin tomorrow.
