The Dauphin HERO Club is ready to host a Christmas supper fundraiser on Wednesday.
It'll take place at the 8th Avenue Hall from 5:00 to 8:00. Entertainment will be from 6:00 to 7:00. The cost is $25. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

For the last month, McDonald's in Dauphin and Swan River have teamed up for the 'Golden Arches Food Drive'.
Both restaurants have been accepting monetary and non-perishable food items. The final total is in, and wow, great job, Parkland. Tej Patel says that, combined between Dauphin and Swan River restaurants, more than 10,000 pounds of food will be donated to the two local Food Banks.
Patel estimates that about 6,000 pounds of food will be given to the Dauphin & District Food Bank. The remaining 4,000+ pounds of food will be given to the Food Bank in Swan River. When people in the Parkland region are in need, others step up.
Schools in both communities held Food Drives, and others provided a cash donation.
"This is all about giving back to the community. We've been doing this for the past couple of years," said Patel. "We're not only doing the Food Bank donation, but we're also giving away coffee for the next few weeks."
Until December 31, at the McDonald's in Dauphin, if you visit the drive-thru, you can get a free small coffee.
"We have a great community. Dauphin is developing right now. This is a small appreciation from Dauphin McDonald's to the community," ended Patel.
Patel says he appreciates the incredible support from both communities. He feels grateful to live in such a wonderful community and thanks everyone.

It's a project that, once complete, will help serve those who require emergency department services better in the Interlake.
The Manitoba government is moving forward with the construction of the emergency department at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale.
Candace Blahey is the Director of Health Services, Acute Care, at the Interlake–Eastern Regional Health Authority.
"This is phenomenal, absolute phenomenal news for Eriksdale," said Blahey. "This is something that they've been needing and wanting for many years. The voices of community members, First Nations partners, and Eriksdale hospital staff have all been instrumental in the design process for this redevelopment. The continued support and advocacy have been so greatly appreciated. We're pretty excited."
The $ 8.6 million project, which includes site setup, minor demolition, and safety measures, is expected to begin in February.
The redevelopment project will enhance operational workflows, increase emergency treatment capacity within the existing footprint, and improve patient privacy and safety.
More than 140 community members participated in surveys or attended the March 2025 open house to help shape the design.
"There will be a dedicated spot for security, enhanced workspaces for the nurses," ended Blahey. "We're all really looking forward to seeing how this plays out. There is a lot of excitement happening on Highway 6, that's for sure."
Renovations will modernize inpatient rooms, enhance staff work areas, and create dedicated areas for families and crisis intervention with technology-support enhancements.
These upgrades will support long-term service stabilization and create a more functional, future-ready environment for emergency care in the region.

Due to the weather forecast calling for snow on Wednesday, Keystone Agricultural Producers has made a change.
Both the meeting in Dauphin on Wednesday and Thursday in Swan River have been postponed. Both meetings will happen next month.

Manitoba's largest farm lobby group is bringing its series of fall district meetings to the Parkland later this week.
The District 11 meeting for Keystone Agricultural Producers is set for Wednesday from 11 to 2 at Smitty's Restaurant in Dauphin.
Currently, the district 11 representative position on KAP's board of directors is vacant, and president Jill Verway is hopeful that someone will step forward for the position at this meeting.
"If nobody steps up, then I am hoping to reach out individually or as a board to make sure that we have somebody as at least a contact for that area. But definitely encouraging everyone to come out and attend. And if they have questions as to what kind of time commitment that would be, as far as being a representative on the board, we can certainly provide that information at that time."
Thursday will see KAP wrap up its district meetings with the district 12 gathering from noon to 3 at Northern Lights Eatery in Swan River.

The Government of Manitoba says they're maintaining their fiscal path, even with climate change and Trump's tariffs posing challenges.
The 2nd Quarter report from the Manitoba Government for 2025-26 shows climate change-driven wildfires and droughts, as well as the U.S. tariffs, have both had an impact on the province's bottom line, said Manitoba Finance Minister Adrien Sala, on Monday.
Excluding the net costs of wildfires and Manitoba Hydro’s variance, the deficit would be $803 Million, which is just slightly above Budget 2025’s $794 Million projection.
The 2025-26 second quarter fiscal update projects an $867 Million variance from the deficit forecast, relative to the 2025-26 Budget.

For anyone who has ever stepped inside the Grandview Agricultural Community Centre, you'll know that it's the heartbeat of the community.
From minor hockey to the Grandview Comets over the years, the facility is a special place for many. On Monday, a large group of community members gathered inside for an exciting announcement.
Municipal and Northern Relations Minister Glen Simard announced through the Manitoba government's Manitoba GRO program a grant of $1,262,314. The grant will go towards the purchase of a new ice plant that will not only service the GACC, but the curling rink as well.
Jim Winfield is the deputy mayor for the Grandview Municipality.
"This is a huge day for Grandview. We have been working on this project for years," said Winfield. "To see the province come on board and help us out, it's a fantastic day for Grandview."
The current ice plant was installed in 1975, and it's on borrowed time. The new energy-efficient ice plant is projected to reduce the Hydro cost by at least 30 per cent.
Mayor Lyle Morran says they hope to have the plant operational as soon as possible.
"This is major for the community. We knew we had to get this done; it's been breaking down and very unreliable for the last three years," offered Morran. "We're always on the edge and wondering if it will last for the winter. We don't want to have to shut down the two facilities."
Ron Kostyshyn, MLA for Dauphin, was in attendance for the announcement. He knows how much the GACC means to the community and was thrilled to be a part of the big day.
"What is special is when I come into this place, and I see young kids sitting around," said Kostyshyn. "That to me is an indication of their future using this arena and having recreational facilities, whether it be curling or hockey. It's worth the dollars to keep the young children active in the community."
More than 100 community members came together for the special announcement. From young to old, there were claps and cheers. It was a day that guarantees the GACC will be around for decades to come.
"It's a major draw for the community. Many of the young people will tell you that they wouldn't live here if it weren't for the recreational facilities," ended Morran. "We've got rec, a hospital, and school. It's very important for this community."
Deputy mayor Winfield added that the facility shares a special place in his heart.
"This building is the heart and soul of Grandview, and I honestly believe that," ended Winfield.
The Town of Swan River received a grant of $225,000 for the Swan River Legion Park Revitalization. The Municipality of Ste. Rose received $438,145 for its Road and Bridge Rehabilitation Project. Stay tuned in the coming days for more reactions.

Dauphin Fire Department and Santa are working together.
Santa will be on a truck (updated Dec 16 Tues), tonight. His route map will be available on Facebook, and we will aim to update the details, asap once we have them.
Reports from last night (Mon Night), was sirens and HO HO HO could be heard in the following areas: the north end of the city between Hawthorne and River Avenue, and the east portion between Bond Street to Valour Road, all neighbourhoods north of River Avenue.
They'll also be in the areas east of Mountain Road, between Kerr Avenue and River Avenue.

Two men face possession for the purpose of trafficking charges following a recent traffic stop in Ebb & Flow.
Ste Rose RCMP say they pulled over a vehicle around 11:30 Saturday night, and immediately spotted open alcohol once the driver opened his door.
A further search revealed 29 grams of cocaine, as well as packaging, a scale, and other drug paraphernalia.
The two men, aged 38 and 48, have been released on promises to appear in court on a later date.

On the heels of a historic 60th anniversary spectacle this past summer, tickets for the 2026 edition of Canada's National Ukrainian Festival have now gone on sale.
The show is set for July 31 to August 2nd at the Selo Ukraina site south of the city.
Early bird weekend pass prices are set at $140, with both upper and lower camping also available.

The Watson Art Centre is welcoming Jake Vaadeland & The Sturgeon River Boys on Saturday for their "Goodness Gracious It's Christmas" show.
This is the second holiday tour put on by the band.
When asked what to expect, Vaadeland mentioned a performance with laughter, visuals, and stunts, then added,
"Especially with this specialty Christmas show that we're putting on I believe we really tried to go above and beyond even what we do with our regular show ya and we're bringing around with us an entire Christmas set. Kind of almost think of it as bringing my version of Christmas with me around on the road, kind of what my home environment is like, fireplace, mantle, a Christmas tree, a grandfather clock, and big arm chair."
Vaadeland recently won six awards from the Saskatchewan Country Music Association, including Male Artist of the Year.
"I'm very happy of course to have won those, and they've got a special place on my mother's shelf. I give all my awards to her because they don't fit in my house. My house is full of antiques and the awards look too modern, so I like to give them all to my mother so she'll have lots of nice decorations to put up now."
